Up to 15 sheets and 9 minutes talking

We were up on the 23rd floor of the Union Jack Club, in the strangely named Disney Room.  Not as many members attended as I had hoped and even less than year, but quite likely the amount of rail disruption into London that weekend did not endure members to make longer more round-about journeys into Waterloo.  …

This was a first class display and talk on the “Austro-Hungarian Navy during World War I” given by Lindy Bosworth, who was made a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society, London only last November.  Lindy knows her subject and has an amazing selection of material to illustrate the story behind her talk.  …

An Afternoon With Patrick Frost

Well, we didn’t know what to expect as there had been no indication as what would be covered and so it was with some enthusiastic anticipation that we awaited the start of the meeting - and we were not to be disappointed !  I cannot remember the last time Patrick displayed for us and he does not attend our meetings on a regular basis and so his collecting interests were a mystery (or certainly me at least !).  …

A slight change to our advertised schedule - at the request of our President, Edmund Hall, we brought forward his display from next year and so we decided to give him the whole morning session and thus postpone the President’s Cup competition until next year.  …

Recent Acquisitions & queries - Members

As I was one of the first in the meeting room and had ascertained that there would be someone there over the lunch period I (Michael Dobbs) decided to put up my recent acquisitions to give something for early arrivals to look at rather than blank boards.  I was pleasantly surprised to see when I returned that other early arrivals had done likewise and so we had a wide selection of material for members to view prior to the official meeting start time.  …
